One of 16 Biosphere Reserves located in Canada, the Frontenac Arch Biosphere was designated by UNESCO's Man and the Biosphere Programme in November 2002.
As of 1 July, 2011, there are 581 World Biosphere Reserves located in 114 countries.
UN Press Release
.

The Frontenac Arch Biosphere Reserve extends roughly 2700 square kilometres in the southsouth eastern portion of the Canadian Province of Ontario.

We accomplish our work by networking natural and historic conservation organisations, economic and social development groups, as well as the educational and scientific communities located within the Frontenac Arch region.   Locally, we are known as the Biosphere Network or FABN.  Collectively, the Biosphere Network helps guide the community towards a more sustainable approach to living on earth.
